Thanks to all of you who came out to the Race Into the New Year and Polar Bear Plunge. We had a great time and hope you did to. We have had dozens of email thanking us for not canceling the Race Into the New Year due to the black ice. About 30 people worked all day on Wednesday and New Years Eve day to plow the trails and put down salt and sand, but the snow just kept melting across the trail all day and froze back up into huge sheets of black ice between 7-9pm making it too dangerous. Apologies for the big pileups on the wooden bridge on the last minute course, but it was the only trails available that were not super icy.

Hooray for Kathy and all who helped RunnersWorld with Race Into the New Year. It is always a fun race. I missed it this year because I was in the warmth of my home celebrating the New Year with family and friends who really did not want to be outside. I have to admit, though, I really kind of liked being inside and warm.
Next year I suggest that the race follow Ed down to Brazil, where it is nice and warm. :)
Yes, thank you SO much for not cancelling it! I wouldn't have been doing much else because there are some of us strange people out there that want to avoid the drunken mess of drivers too late at night!
